What is an Eagle Scout Project?

An Eagle Scout Project is a service project that positively benefits the community, and is completely Scout led. The scouts develops the plan, budget, timeline, completion of the project and also has to show leadership in some way shape or form. Projects range from building park benches, to doing a food drive.

What made you choose Fuel the Frontlines as your Eagle Project?

It's actually a funny story. right before Christmas I had to get a COVID test. The testing center was all outdoors in the middle of winter, and there were all these nurses in full PPE. When we left, my Dad looked at me and asked, "When do you think they ate last?" My aunt has worked in the ER for over 40 years, and she has told me many stories of crazy 12 hour night shifts.

Food is also a huge part of my life. My family loves cooking, and we all enjoy going out to appreciate food. Due to COVID, restaurants have been struggling and some have shut down.

I wanted to do something that addressed a current need and could impact a huge amount of people. Our Frontline Heroes have done so much and I realized that this is my opportunity to give back. By preparing fresh meals with the local restaurants and delivering them to the hospitals, those who work at the hospitals do not have to worry about a meal. In turn, the restaurants also receive income and work.

Since when do girls do Eagle Scout Projects?

The Boy Scouts of America opened the program to girls in February of 2019. Since then, we have been advancing through rank, earning merit badges and getting the full scouting experience!

What is happening with the donations?

Every penny of your donation will go to a worthy cause right here in our Western NY Community. You will support the extraordinary efforts of our healthcare teams, and at the same time, help the local restaurants and their employees. The money goes towards the restaurants who get compensated for making a freshly prepared meal and delivered to a Frontline Hero!

What hospitals and restaurants are you working with?

I plan on working with local restaurants and hospitals in the area. I will update on the parters page as we continue to coordinate with more locations.

How has COVID-19 affected the Scouting program?

Like everything else, Scouting has had to adjust and transition to being virtual. Merit badges are now offered virtually, and rank advancement has changed some of its requirements so that it is possible to do them within COVID restrictions. The pandemic has given people more of an opportunity to go outside and appreciate nature, and Scouts have taken full advantage of that.
